With its abundance of lakes, Trentino is a paradise for divers. Grab your wetsuit, diving mask and air tank - and let the adventure begin! An unique ecosystem with interesting inhabitants waits to be discovered under the water surface.

There are different types of diving, such as scuba diving, also known as recreational diving, or technical diving, which requires special diving equipment. Scuba diving evolved from snorkelling and underwater fishing, while technical diving requires longer training and a lot of experience. Most of Trentino's lakes are suitable for scuba diving, but their popularity depends on three determining factors: the beauty and uniqueness of the underwater world, the availability of suitable infrastructure and equipment, and the accessibility of diving areas. Lake Garda is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after diving destinations with several access points along its shores.

The underwater world of Porto San Nicolò in Riva del Garda is particularly famous for its historical finds from World War II and for the statue of the Silent Christ. Other lakes in Trentino are also specifically tailored for diving, as they are equipped with flag lines (ropes indicating the dive site) or platforms for diving exercises, examples include Lake Levico or Lake Lases. Lake Tovel with its petrified trees and Lake Caldonazzo, easily accessible on foot, are also popular diving destinations.
